A.S. Byatt
A.S. Byatt (1936-2023) was an English author of literary fiction, historical fiction, and fantasy novels, and non-fiction books. She wrote the Frederica Quartet. Byatt is renowned for her intellectually rich fiction, intricate storytelling, and deep engagement with art, history, and mythology. Aside from her Frederica Quartet, she is best known for her Booker Prize–winning novel Possession , which brought her international acclaim, as well as numerous short story collections. Byatt’s work is celebrated for its literary ambition, elegant prose, and exploration of the connections between creativity, knowledge, and human relationships.
