Catherynne M. Valente
Catherynne M. Valente is an American author of fantasy and science fiction novels, short stories and poetry. She writes the Fairyland series and is a New York Times bestselling author. She has won the Andre Norton, Tiptree, Mythopoeic, Rhysling, Lambda, Locus and Hugo awards. Cathrynne was born in Seattle, where she lived until she was 13, when she moved to California. She graduated from high school when she was 15 and went onto UC San Diego and Edinburgh University, earning a B.A. in Classics with an emphasis in Ancient Greek Linguistics. She has worked as a professional fortune teller, telemarketer, private tutor, librarian, waitress, bartender, actress and statistician. Cat lives on a small island off the coast of Maine with her partner and a growing menagerie of animals.
