Josephine Tey
Josephine Tey was the pen name of Scottish author Elizabeth Mackintosh (1896-1952), who wrote mystery novels. She also wrote historical fiction as Gordon Daviot. She came up with the pen name “Josephine Tey” from her mother’s first name (Josephine) and her grandmother’s maiden name (Tey). She is best known for her novel The Daughter of Time , which was named by the Crime Writers’ Association as the greatest mystery novel of all time in 1990.
