Kathleen Ernst
Kathleen Ernst is an American author of historical fiction and mystery novels. She writes the Chloe Ellefson Mysteries series and the American Girls: Caroline series. Kathleen was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in Maryland. She was always surrounded by books, having a librarian for a mother and a father who was an avid reader. Kathleen wrote historical fiction as a hobby, and completed her first novel at 15 (though didn’t get a book deal until 20 years later). She attended West Virginia University, majoring in Forestry, but also took a lot of creative writing and history classes. While working in public television, she began writing American Girl novels in her spare time. From there, she began writing her own novels as well. Kathleen enjoys travelling, cooking, any kind of handwork, trying out new skills, and reading. She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, Scott.
