Kelly Barnhill
Kelly Barnhill is an American author of YA fantasy novels and non-fiction books. Prior to being a novelist, Kelly worked as a teacher, bartender, waitress, park ranger, secretary, and janitor. She doesn’t feel any of these experiences prepared her for anything in life other than to tell stories, so that is what she does (quite happily). She earned the Newbery Medal in 2017, in addition to fellowships from the Jerome Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts Board, and the McKnight Foundation. She has also received the World Fantasy Award, Parents Choice Gold Award, the Texas Library Association Bluebonnet, and a Charlotte Huck Honor. Kelly is married to her husband, Ted Barnhill, and has three children.
