Richard Adams
Richard Adams (1920-2016) was an English author of fantasy and literary fiction novels and non-fiction books. Born in Berkshire, he attended Bradfield College. He later would study Modern History at Worcester College, Oxford. Upon the outbreak of World War II, he joined the British Army and served until 1946. He received a class B discharge and returned to Worcester to finish his studies. He took earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948 and Master of Arts in 1953. Richard first started telling the story of Watership Down to his two daughters, Juliet and Rosamund, and they insisted he get it published. It took two years to write and was rejected by thirteen publishers before finally getting published and receiving record-setting success.
