Samuel R. Delany
Samuel R. Delany is an American author of science fiction and fantasy, erotic lit, and non-fiction books. Samuel grew up in Harlem, the son of a New York Public Library clerk and the owner of a funeral home. He was the nephew of civil rights pioneers Sadie and Bessie Delany. Delany has won the Hugo Award twice and the Nebula Award four times, among many other accolades. He became a professor in 1988, and has never stopped teaching at many different colleges.
