Anne Shirley is the protagonist in a series of novels by Canadian author L.M. Montgomery . Anne is an orphan from Nova Scotia who was sent to P.E.I. by mistake, which is where she ended up moving in with two siblings and considering it home. The character is easily identifiable for her trademark red hair. She is imaginative and quite talkative. The series has been adapted to several films, a television series and several other mediums.
