Bill Travis is the protagonist in a series of hardboiled mystery novels by American novelist George Wier . Wier considers his Bill Travis character to be like a Texan version of Travis McGee, and also considers Doc Savage and the 70s TV show Mannix to be major influences. Although the series is set in Austin, Texas, Bill’s various adventures end up taking him across the state.
