Dr. Siri Paiboun is the lead character in a series of mystery novels by British-Australian author Colin Cotterill . The series is set in the 1970s after Laos is taken over by the Communist party known as Pathet Lao. They appoint Dr. Siri Paiboun as the national coroner, due to the fact that he has been trained as a physician in Paris, France, and the fact that he’s the only one left who is even remotely qualified for the job.
