Duke de Richleau is the protagonist in a series of historical thriller/occult novels by English author Dennis Wheatley . The Duke was born in Russia to an exiled French nobleman and a Russian princess. He joined the French army to his father’s dismay, but his career in the military ended due to his involvement in a coup. He fled France and found asylum in Britain.
