Frank Nolan is the protagonist in a series of hard-boiled mystery novels by American author Max Allan Collins . It is no secret that Nolan is based on Richard Stark ‘s Parker character. Collins didn’t mind writing a one-off novel with a heavily inspired character, however he didn’t feel comfortable doing a series until he got Stark’s permission (which he got). The Nolan character is an aging thief who needs one more heist before he can call it a career.
